Navy SEAL Foundation Gets Donation Boost

Donations were made to the Navy SEAL Foundation, a  nonprofit group based in Virginia that gives assistance to families of the U.S. Navy’s Sea, Air, and Land Teams, popularly known as the Navy SEALs. The Navy SEAL Foundation serves the entire Naval Special Warfare community, which also includes members of the Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) and their families, as well as NSW support personnel.

The increase in donations followed the news that a Navy SEAL team killed Osama Bin Laden, leader of international terrorist group Al-Qaeda and the known mastermind behind the 2001 World Trade Center Bombings in New York City.

The Associated Press report further says that according to the foundation’s director of development, it has received a total $6,000 in donations for May 2 alone. This was remarkable since there are days when the foundation does not receive any donations at all.

Moreover, some of the recent donations were accompanied by notes expressing thanks for the SEALS’ service.
